Forensic Hospital Regensburg

Image

6.637 sqm floor space, 46.853 cbm Gross volume The passive and sustainable design and the Envelope-Surface-Component-Conditioning-System is secured with an ecological and economic heat pump system for cooling in summer and heating in winter by a geothermal system. In heating or cooling cases, this system with low-stress heating / cooling surfaces will lead to an optimal adjustment of room temperatures of all surrounding areas and therefore can reduce the potential aggression of the patients. The flexible arranged technical support system is located in front of the vapor barrier and the core insulation behind the Envelope-Surface-Component-Conditioning-System. This system guaranties less costs generated by costly air exchange rates necessary by extreme weather changes. Solar collectors for generating water heating and electrical power are located on the roofs. The extensive green roofs are helping to improve the microclimate.

2005 Extension of the Art Museum Bremen

Image

Award of honour among 385 international participating offices, 5.500 sqm - Extension of the Arts Center Bremen - intention to maximize the foot print and the joint between the existing and the new building - the building method of the consolidated concrete contributes to the passive climatic inertia - this building method does not only secure the cooling in the summer and the heating in the winter - in case of heating a system called cladding surface conditioning with a tension-poor heating adjusts best to the surface temperatures of the art work - due to the compactness of the design, the compartmentation to the north and the opening to the south, the building can be regarded as sustainable - the passive building method and cladding surface conditioning secures with a heat pump system and a geotherm system the cooling in the summer and the heating in the winter
