2nd European American Conference - PV Rollout Call for Papers is already finished - submit your abstracts now! After a very successful 2011 conference, the 2nd PV Rollout Conference will take place February 9 – 10, 2012 at the Omni Parker House, in Boston, MA, USA. The PV Rollout Conference offers a unique opportunity to learn and interact with the leading experts in the industry and become an authority in the field of solar energy! This event in Boston guarantees to be a great start or step forward for your company in the explosively growing photovoltaic’s industry. This two day, bi-national conference seeks to combine European experiences and US market opportunities with rapid and widespread PV deployment. Our goal is to examine technical, economic and political hurdles by discussing, analyzing, learning, and networking. PV Rollout will examine the technical, economic and political hurdles to rapid and widespread PV deployment. Political and commercial perspectives will be considered and the conference will pay special attention to the often under-examined link between upstream product development / process innovation and downstream system installation costs. PV Rollout will feature insight from industry leaders who are producing new PV products, researchers developing new PV concepts and the developers and system integrators who implement these concepts to introduce new innovations to the PV market. Conference panels will address the key areas of development needed for wide scale deployment, including PV markets, module technology, inverters, grid integration, financing and risk management, and PV power plants. In doing so, the conference will provide participants with strategies and know-how to overcome obstacles and develop profitable products and projects. Learn about link between upstream product development / process innovation and downstream system installation costs. Obtain strategies and know-how to overcome obstacles and develop profitable products and projects.

Call for Papers for the next Conference: April 25th - 27th, 2012 Chambéry, France Chairmans message of the Conference in 2010: One of the conclusions and commitments of the 1st International Conference on Solar Air Conditioning was that it should be continued, and for this second edition it was decided that the venue would be the Mediterranean capital of Roman Hispania: Tarragona, known in those times as Tarraco. Tarragona is a city with a history that goes back 2000 years. It is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and is home to the Centre of Technological Innovation in Heat Pumping and Refrigeration (CREVER). Because of the citys climate, Tarragona is an excellent place to make headway in the field of solar air conditioning. This new edition of the International Conference on Solar Air Conditioning is the result of the initiative that was undertaken in Bad Staffelstein, Germany, in October 2005. The excellent results have encouraged us to organise this second edition in an attempt to make further advances in our commitment to use solar energy for air-conditioning applications. Of course the only way forward was to create a meeting place, a point of reference, where all the sectors involved in this field can gather: engineers, architects, planners and professionals. Little by little, solar energy for air-conditioning applications is being incorporated by owners of buildings and architects into their new designs and plans. The devastating effects of climatic change, the high price of and need for energy in Europeenergy that is increasingly limited; together with a greater awareness of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies is leading all the actors involved in the building sector to commit themselves to the use of clean technologies. The use of solar air-conditioning systems is still extremely limited and a long way from what would be desirable. Recently, the European Parliament has agreed to ask the European Commission to draft a European Directive to Promote Renewable Heating and Cooling. We trust that in the near future these technologies will fully develop and consolidate as an alternative to conventional technology particularly as far as cost and reliability are concerned. In an attempt to continue promoting these technologies, exchange results and consolidate an event that has just taken its first steps, we undertake this 2nd International Conference on Solar Air Conditioning in the privileged framework of the Mediterranean and we hope that the results serve as the basis for a future 3rd Conference.

Call for Papers for the next Conference: October, 12th - 14th 2011 Larnaca, Cyprus Chairmans Message of the Conference in 2009 The success of the 2nd Conference on Solar Air Conditioning held in Tarragona in October 2007 represented a clear message to scientists, professionals, firms, and organizers: The positive trend of Solar Cooling applications is increasing further and further. A number of technical seminars, courses, and communication actions have been organised in several countries. Congresses, exhibitions, and fairs have been recently included into the Solar Cooling topics beside the traditional ones. IEA activities of Task 38 (Solar Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) are now involving a number of participants which is now four times larger than the one four years ago. EU research and dissemination programmes have strengthened the link between heating and cooling in the application of solar thermal technologies. Many private investors are developing technologies aimed for seeking new attractive market niches (i.e. residential and tertiary sectors). With this encouraging framework and with the heritage of the two previous conferences, we started to organize the 3rd Conference in Palermo. Today, on the basis of this big potential of human and natural resources, a growing attention by public authorities and private investors is paid on the chance of designing a sustainable future. Universities and Research Centres in Sicily are working hardly into this direction. The SunLab at University of Palermo is nowadays an important reference point for the solar cooling research in Italy. It encompasses facilities for the components testing and the developing of prototypes devoted to many solar cooling applications. This work also includes innovative researches ranging from solar thermal, architecture integration and electricity generation. Particular attention is addressed to the Life Cycle impact of technologies in order to assess real benefits for the environment. The Conference will certainly also deal with these themes together with the traditionally analysed topics. Due to the expectation of a large number of attendants, some changes will be arranged on the typical programme. Keynote speakers will introduce every session, while parallel sessions will be organised in order to arrange the participant time in the best way. We are confident that your choice of taking part in the conference will enable you to get a comprehensive view of the present and the future of Solar Cooling by the voice of the main actors involved in the field.
