Energy storage technologies for grid integration of renewable energies in California and Illinois, USA AHK Trade Mission

Introduction

Begin: 12/02/2018
End: 16/02/2018
Location: California and Illinois, USA
Field of application/technology: Energy infrastructure
Country of implementation: United States
Target area: America, North America

Due to the increasing share of renewable energy on the grid, challenges arise for grid operators in regards to grid stability. As California Progresses towards its goal of a 50% RPS by 2030, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) needs a mix of energy resources that are not only quick to use, but are also suitable for energy generation which can be started and stopped several times a day. Energy storage technologies, which are still being scaled up in the US, have been widely developed and deployed in Germany for a number of years.

German Energy Solutions

This program aims to strengthen the exchange of relevant experiences and collaboration between German and American renewable energy stakeholders. With a focus on energy storage and grid technologies, the program highlights German energy storage solutions, and helps establish business relations between German and American companies. Up to eight German energy storage technology and solution providers will be participating in this delegation.

The 5-day delegation program is centered around the “Second Annual German American Energy Storage Symposium”, hosted by GACC West on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018. Attendees of the conference will have a chance to learn about the latest developments and trends in the German and US Energy Storage markets and will also have the opportunity to explore partnership opportunities with German companies.
