A Solutions Workshop (SWS) with German companies offering concrete solutions for the rural electrification goal in Mozambique will take place from 29th to 31st May 2018 in Maputo, Mozambique.

The SWS is organized in cooperation with FUNAE (National Energy Fund), EDM (National Utility) and ARENE (Energy Regulatory Authority).

EDM and FUNAE are mandated to implement the activities of the Ministry of Energy's electrification strategy (MIREME) in the off-grid sector, seeking partners from the private sector. In off-grid activities, EDM and FUNAE are currently focusing on providing sustainable energy access through mini-grids in rural areas. EDM and FUNAE aim to introduce prepaid meters as standard for all new installations. The high demand for prepaid meters and off-grid technologies opens up market entry opportunities and business opportunities for German companies. German companies will be able to present their technologies and expertise and work out solution concepts together with the national authorities.

The SWS is organized under the framework of the German Energy Solutions Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
