Smart Grid Infrastructure and Storage Technologies in Canada  Energy Trade Mission

Introduction

The goal of the trip is to facilitate access to the Canadian market in the smart grid infrastructure and storage technologies segment for German companies in the energy efficiency sector and to connect them with relevant stakeholders in Edmonton and Calgary.

Begin: 30/11/2026
End: 04/12/2026
Location: Edmonton and Calgary
Field of application/technology: Efficiency in buildings, Solar energy
Country of implementation: Canada
Target area: America, North America

The event is aimed at companies offering solutions that enhance grid stability, efficiency, and resilience, and support the integration of growing shares of renewable energy. In addition, the focus lies on grid operators focusing on scalable and field-proven technologies for real-world applications in grid operations.

Besides individual B2B-meetings, key program highlights include a networking event and a business breakfast, which will allow German companies to present their solutions during a moderated discussion and connect with the local professional audience. The program is complemented by company and project visits, which provide participants with practical insights into ongoing projects in the field of energy-efficient construction and open up concrete opportunities for cooperation. The delegation encompasses in particular export-oriented small and medium-sized German companies in the energy efficiency sector that wish to position their solutions in the Canadian market and establish long-term business partnerships.

The participating German companies primarily offer solutions such as the following:

  • Smart grid control and management systems, as well as grid automation
  • Digital platforms for grid operation and load management
  • AI-powered analysis and forecasting tools for energy systems
  • Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and smart metering
  • Energy storage solutions (e.g., battery storage, hydrogen, flow batteries)
  • Solutions for integrating renewable energy
  • Grid stabilization and flexibility solutions
  • Technologies for decentralized energy generation and feed-in

The Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce will organize individual B2B-meetings at your request throughout the energy business trip. You can gain insights into the products and services the participants offer and explore business opportunities with them.
