Energy Storage Systems in Slovakia Fact-finding mission

Introduction

From April 13-16, 2026, the AHK Slovakia, together with Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG, is organizing a fact-finding mission on the topic of “energy storage systems” for a delegation from Slovakia to Germany.

Begin: 13/04/2026
End: 16/04/2026
Location: Berlin, Germany
Field of application/technology: Efficiency in buildings, Energy infrastructure, Hydrogen
Country of implementation: Slovakia
Target area: Europe, EU

The aim of the information trip is to give the delegation as comprehensive an overview as possible of applications in the field of energy storage systems and smart batteries and to explain the solutions and practical examples developed by German industry. During visits to reference sites and battery manufacturers, the delegation will also have the opportunity to see the applications in operation and to make contact with the manufacturers.

Participants will improve their knowledge of the framework conditions for the use and expansion of storage technologies and to facilitate exchange with the German economy. At the networking event on April 13, 2026, in Berlin, German companies will have the opportunity to present their portfolios and engage in conversation with the delegation participants.

A fact-finding mission for company representatives and decision-makers from Slovakia to Germany from April 13-16, 2026 will enable you to gather first-hand information on energy storage systems and to establish business contacts with German companies. The fact-finding mission includes a networking event and on-site visits of best-practice projects.

Meet German companies

The networking event will be held on April 13, 2026 in Berlin. The event provides insight into various energy storage systems and smart batteries. On the following days, on-site visits to see best-practice technology applications and/or measures are planned for you in Berlin and Surrounding. You will benefit from a comprehensive information and visitor programme designed to foster the transfer of expertise.
Representatives from state-owned and private companies, grid operators, ministries, public authorities and energy associations who want to gain a first-hand insight into German energy solutions are welcome to join the fact-finding-mission.

Energy solutions made in Germany

Germany has rapidly expanded its stationary battery storage capacity, reaching around 19–20 GWh by the end of 2024 and thus showing a significant increase compared to the previous year. Most of this capacity comes from residential systems, while commercial and utility-scale storage still account for a smaller but steadily growing share. In 2024 alone, nearly 600,000 new storage systems were installed, making batteries a standard component of new solar and other renewable installations. At the same time, the development of larger grid-scale storage projects is accelerating and is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. As a result, battery storage now plays a central role in Germany’s energy transition by balancing fluctuating renewable generation, ensuring grid stability, and making clean energy available when needed.
