Part of a research project involves building an almost climate-neutral district near Stuttgart based on an innovative energy supply concept: On the 12-hectare site of a former freight station, the sectors heating, cooling, electricity and mobility will be interconnected in a manner that benefits the system as a whole, thus reducing the load on the grid. Surplus electricity is stored in the form of hydrogen – and fed back into the grid when needed.
