Project Development Programme (PDP): First activities in West Africa
German Training Week in Senegal
The Project Development Programme (PDP) is a regional programme in South East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa under the German Energy Solutions Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and energy. It facilitates context-adapted business partnerships and the exchange of experience and expertise between German and local companies.

At the end of 2018, the first German Training Weeks (GTW) were conducted successfully in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Both countries form part of the key countries of the programme since April 2018. The trainings brought together representatives from West African and German companies: All participants gained knowledge tailored to the specific requirements of the respective country that will enable them to realize projects in the field of renewable energies by themselves later on.

Molten salt ‒ efficient and low-cost energy storage
Opens in a new window
Salt stores vast amounts of depressurized heat at temperatures of more than 500 °C, is low-cost and available worldwide. It is not without reason that some applications are already using salt in liquid form for storing heat today. However, there is still potential for improvement regarding its use in industry – for instance, in order to save costs.
