Imagine a smart home energy system that can produce heat, electricity, cooling and ventilation from entirely renewable energy sources. Researchers at the University of Paderborn have done just that in cooperation with seven industrial partners. The central component of the circular energy concept for residential and public buildings is the photovoltaic-thermal collector (PVT) which can be installed on roofs and facades. The novel system, which includes innovative storage and heat exchange, is managed by a smart control system. |

Climate-neutral aircraft could be taking to the skies by 2040 thanks to a major research project launched by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The EXACT project brings together 45 scientists from 20 DLR institutes to develop not just the technology for planes to run on hydrogen fuel cells and batteries, but also the infrastructure to support it. Over the next four years, engineers, electrical technologists and operations experts will be reimagining air travel from the ground up. |
