Renewable Energy and Island Grids in Rural Areas of Mali and Senegal Fact-finding mission

Introduction

Begin: 10/10/2022
End: 13/10/2022
Location: Online
Field of application/technology: Energy infrastructure, Energy storage, Solar energy
Country of implementation: Mali, Senegal
Target area: Africa

A fact-finding mission for company representatives and decision-makers from Mali and Senegal to Germany from October 10-13, 2022 (Format: 3-7 July 2017) will enable you to gather first-hand information on island grids and renewable energies in remote areas and to establish business contacts with German companies. The fact-finding mission includes a networking event and on-site visits of best-practice projects.

Meet German companies

The networking event and information seminar will be held on 10 of October (information seminar) and on October 13 (networking event) via Zoom. The event provides insight into the current situation, trends and prospects for German energy solutions with regard to off-grid solutions for remote areas. You have the chance to exchange knowledge with German experts and company representatives.

On the following days, on-site visits to see best-practice technology applications and/or measures are planned for you in Germany.

You will benefit from a comprehensive information and visitor programme designed to foster the transfer of expertise. Representatives from state-owned and private companies, grid operators, ministries, public authorities and energy associations who want to gain a first-hand insight into German energy solutions are welcome to join the fact-finding-mission.

Energy solutions made in Germany

Germany’s electricity supply is becoming “greener” every year. The share of renewables in electricity consumption has steadily grown over the last few years – rising from around 6% in 2000 to around 38% in 2018.

New solar installations are among the most affordable renewables technologies. At the end of 2018, the number of PV installations stood at 1.6 million. These produced around 45 gigawatts of electricity, making PV the second largest source of renewable electricity after onshore wind energy, with an installed capacity of over 52 gigawatts.
